Teaira McCowan selected third overall by Indiana Fever in WNBA Draft

She will be joining former Bulldog Victoria Vivians, as the Fever have acquired a gem in McCowan

NCAA Womens Basketball: SEC Conference Tournament Championship - Arkansas vs Mississippi State Joshua S. Kelly-USA TODAY Sports

McCowan, the nation’s best big and rebounder on the offensive end is heading to Indiana and gives the Fever an immediate upgrade. She averaged a career double double with 13 points and 10.1 rebounds per game, 18.4 points, 13.5 rebounds her senior year. McCowan was the focal point for Mississippi State on both ends of the floor and is the perfect fit for Indiana.

Look for McCowan to start for the Fever immediately, as the lethal Bulldog tandem in her and Vivians will reunite this coming WNBA season. McCowan was pro ready as a junior but elevated into a sure top five pick as a senior. Her ability to create second chance opportunities on the offensive glass along with a defensive prowess makes McCowan a dual threat.

Having played for coach Vic Schaefer, McCowan knows toughness and physicality. She is also unfazed by the spotlight and shines in big moments. She will make her teammates better and is always willing to learn. With arguably one of the greatest careers in Mississippi State history, McCowan should be a franchise cornerstone with the Fever.

Hail State!
