Player to Watch
Myah Taylor
Taylor picked up right where she left off in the Bulldogs 2020-21 season debut, having proven she can lead the offense and feel comfortable being the team’s primary leader. Fresh off a statement performance that included 11 points, seven assists and four steals, it is clear that Taylor is an orchestrator whose vision is second-to-none.
While she is most known for her defense and ability to create opportunities for teammates, Taylor has found her shot and is willing to score when needed. As she and and coach Nikki McCray-Penson seem to be on the same page thus far, Taylor’s confidence in her shot has made her a legitimate scoring threat from anywhere on the floor.
Perhaps the biggest surprise in Taylor’s development is her distance shooting. Against Jackson State, Taylor shot 3-for-4 from beyond the arc. If this continues, Taylor will boast a a dangerous all-around game set to put the nation on notice. Look for more attempts tonight.
For the Bulldogs to earn their second win, Taylor will have to dictate pace and continue to exhibit leadership. There is every reason to believe she will and have the Bulldogs rolling early.
