No. 9 Mississippi State at Auburn Women’s Basketball Preview

Following a bitter loss to the Wildcats in Lexington, the Bulldogs look to rebound and get back on track against the Tigers. MSU Athletics

Broadcast Information

The game is at 8:00 p.m. CT and can be watched on the SEC Network.

What to Watch For

Rickea Jackson on the boards

As she has accumulated 26 rebounds in her last three games, Jackson continues to improve on the boards. If able to record a Double double tonight, the Bulldogs should come away with their 23rd win. Jackson is averaging 14.3 points per game. Look for Jackson to post north of seven boards and add multiple blocks to her stat line.

At 6-foot-2, Jackson will be matched up with Unique Thompson, a junior forward averaging 16.7 points. Thompson, who can record a Double double in her sleep posted 21 points and 11 boards in Starkville last month. Jackson countered with 22 points but was not a factor on the boards, as she posted just four. Expect a duel down low between Jackson and Thompson to determine tonight’s game.

Myah Taylor vs Daisa Alexander

While Taylor has been the Bulldogs best on ball defender, she will have to neutralize Alexander, the Tigers star senior guard. Taylor has accumulated 53 steals on the year, as she should have north of three tonight. Though she posted 20 points in the last meeting, Alexander’s numbers have varied throughout the year. Taylor and the Bulldogs as a unit have grown defensively, as tonight’s matchup will be much different than the last.
