Evaluating the Mississippi State 2020 Recruiting Class: Safety Janari Dean

The past few years the Mississippi State Bulldogs have had a consistent secondary that has been filled with plenty of players that are not afraid to hit a receiver. Janari Dean fits that description perfectly. Dean has enrolled at Mississippi State and is another safety that does not mind lighting wide receivers up as they attempt to catch the football.

Dean played the defensive back and running back positions for South Panola High School. Dean has good speed and has developed into a solid safety. Janari will get a chance to play in the secondary this season. Dean can make plays on the ball, having lined up all over the field for South Panola. Dean has good hands and will pick off the pass as well as bat the ball away. Dean will have a chance to earn some playing time during the spring and summer and should provide a solid play in the Bulldogs’ secondary.

Dean was rated a three-star prospect by most recruiting services. Dean helped South Panola to a 12-2 record and a playoff appearance. Dean rushed for almost 1,600 yards last season and his versatility should serve him well in Mike Leach’s system. Dean was a steal for Mississippi State and I really look forward to what can accomplish in Starkville over the next few seasons.
