Gabe Cavazos and Tre’von Marshall Receive Three-Star Ratings

NCAA Football: Music City Bowl-Mississippi State vs Louisville Jim Brown-USA TODAY Sports

The recruiting momentum has been trending upward over the past few months and that momentum continued today with Gabe Cavazos and Tre’von Marshall receiving their ratings from 247Sports. Ratings are a good indicator to give fans and observers and idea of how the 2021 class is trending. Having recruiting classes that dominate from a national perspective is a goal that every teams and to be in the top-40 is what teams like to lay out and achieve.

Mississippi State with the three-star ratings of both Cavazos and Marshall have moved into the top-35. With a ranking of 35th nationally according to 247Sports, Mike Leach and his staff have hit the ground running in Starkville. Cavazos and Marshall will bring to the Bulldogs impact players, Cavazos on the offensive line and Marshall from the defensive end position.

Tre’von Marshall will bring to Starkville a player that has a nose for the football and playing in the Southeastern Conference, that is exactly what fans want. Marshall is a disruptive force and has the ability to get into the offensive backfield on a consistent basis. Marshall is the 74th ranked player in the country and the 122nd ranked overall player in Georgia. Georgia is a recruiting hot bed and pulling players away from the state of Georgia is not an easy accomplishment.

Gabe Cavazos is the 18th-ranked player in Mississippi and the 101st-ranked offensive tackle nationally. Cavazos will bring to the Bulldogs an impressive run blocker and a mean streak that will fit well in the difficult SEC West. Cavazos also brings impressive speed from the offensive tackle position and he is consistently out of the snap quickly and will what Mike Leach is looking for from his offensive line nicely.

The bottom line is this was more good news for the Bulldogs today. Mississippi State jumped to 33rd nationally in recruiting and also moved up to 10th in the conference. With still plenty of work to do in recruiting the opportunity exists for the Bulldogs to continue upward in the recruiting rankings. The momentum is there for the Bulldogs’ staff to keep it rolling!
