Player to Watch

JaMya Mingo-Young

Mingo-Young has significantly improved as a defender this season, as her defense will determine the outcome of today’s game. She has a team-high 18 steals and should add to that total against the Rebels. Like fellow guard Myah Taylor, Mingo-Young can dictate pace and set the tone early.

Likely to be matched up against Donnetta Johnson, Mingo-Young must keep her from driving through the lane. Johnson is averaging 11.6 points per game. Look for Mingo-Young to hold her to under 10.

While she is a capable scorer, Mingo-Young has emerged into an even better faciliator. She also leads the Bulldogs in assists with 39. Expect her to create scoring opportunities for teammates and have the offense rolling.

Prediction

Mississippi State beats Ole Miss 96-77
