As she is emerging into a formidable weapon on the offensive end, guard Madison Hayes will have to have an impact in Thursday’s game.
As seen in her season-high 13-point performance against Georgia, Hayes can score from anywhere on the floor. That said, it will take more than 13 points to beat South Carolina. In a group of potent scorers, head coach Nikki McCray-Penson will be sure to turn to Hayes if the Bulldogs find themselves steadily in front.
Mississippi State must find a way to hold on when leading and not leave the door open, particularly in the second half. Like fellow guard Aliyah Matharu, Hayes is streaky and can get on a roll at any point. Look for Hayes to make her presence felt early and post a season-high in attempted shots.
Hail State!
