Broadcast Information

The game is at 12:00 p.m. CT and can be watched on ESPN2

Player to Watch

Rickea Jackson

Likely to be matched up with one of the game’s best in Wildcat superstar Rhyne Howard, Jackson will have to be at her best for the Bulldogs to earn their second in conference win. As she posted 11 points at Georgia, Jackson will have to eclipse 20 against Kentucky.

Both Jackson and Howard stand at 6-foot-2 and are pure scorers that can create their own shot. The two are averaging just over 16 points per game and have improved from distance. Expect both to put on an offensive clinic and lead their teams in scoring.

In addition to being offensive weapons, Jackosn and Howard have become formidable defenders and will be counted on late. The game’s outcome is likely to come down to Jackson’s defense on Howard and whether or not she can keep her in check when it matters most.

While the Bulldogs have struggled to protect early leads, they cannot afford to leave the door open for Howard to get on a scoring roll. Look for Jackson to have her best defensive outing and hold Howard to under 25 points.

Today’s game will be a nail-biter and can go either way. Both squads are well-coached and boast prolific scoring weapons. Though it will be close throughout, McCray-Penson will outduel Wildcat coach Kyra Elzy and the Bulldogs will find themselves at 2-0.

Prediction

Mississippi State edges Kentucky 82-77
