On Saturday’s early segment, managing editor, Landon Young, does this week’s Southeastern Conference pick ‘em challenge with his father, Gerald Young.
My father is the reason I am so crazy about Mississippi State sports. He brought me home from the hospital when I was born in a No. 1 Mississippi State jersey. Growing up, we woke up early every Saturday and watched ESPN College GameDay together while drinking some fresh coffee.
Every week, I call him before Saturday and we discuss who will this Saturday inside the SEC. We will discuss betting lines, close games, and winners each week.
After the first seven weeks of the football season, the SON (myself) is up 3-2.
SEC Football Week 8:
AR-Pine Bluff @ Arkansas (-48.5)
Pops: The odds tell me to take the under on this one. I’m going with Pine Bluff covering the points.
Son: Whew... 48 points is an outrageous spread. I’ll also take Pine-Bluff to cover the -48.5.
Pops: I like what’s happening with LSU right now. LSU covers today.
Son: I’m taking LSU to cover, but boy do I hope they pull out a win for Coach O.
Tennessee @ Alabama (-25.0)
Pops: I’ll go ahead and take Bama to cover the 25 points.
Son: Bama covers BIG today.
South Carolina @ Texas A&M (-19.5)
Pops: A&M is playing a lot better ball right now. South Caroline is hot garbage. I’ll take A&M to cover.
Son: South Carolina has proven they aren’t the hottest team right now. I’ll take A&M to cover.
Mississippi State (-20.5) @ Vanderbilt
Pops: I really think our defense allows us to cover this game. Give me the Dawgs to cover.
Son: I think this will be the first game this season that I don’t pick the Dawgs to cover. I haven’t seen us blow anyone out under Leach and winning by 3 touchdowns is blowing someone out. Give me the Dawgs to win, but Vandy to cover.
