On Saturday’s early segment, managing editor, Landon Young, does this week’s Southeastern Conference pick ‘em challenge with his father, Gerald Young.

My father is the reason I am so crazy about Mississippi State sports. He brought me home from the hospital when I was born in a No. 1 Mississippi State jersey. Growing up, we woke up early every Saturday and watched ESPN College GameDay together while drinking some fresh coffee.

Every week, I call him before Saturday and we discuss who will this Saturday inside the SEC. We will discuss betting lines, close games, and winners each week.

After the first seven weeks of the football season, the SON (myself) is up 3-2.

SEC Football Week 9:

Missouri (-16.5) @ Vanderbilt

Pops: Dang it... I’m taking Vandy to cover those points!

Son: Hmm... I’ll take Mizzou to make it interesting.

Georgia (-14) @ Florida

Pops: UGA covers. Wins big.

Son: UGA should dominate this game. Give me the Bulldogs.

Ole Miss @ Auburn (-3)

Pops: Hope I’m wrong here... I’ll take UM.

Son: WARRRRRRRRR EAGLE. Give me Auburn to win this one at home by a TD.

Kentucky @ Mississippi State (-1.5)

Pops: I’m not going against the DAWGS since I’m headed up to STARKVEGAS right now!

Son: I’ll meet you at two brothers! Give me the Dawgs to win in a close one tonight.
