On Saturday’s early segment, managing editor, Landon Young, does this week’s Southeastern Conference pick ‘em challenge with his father, Gerald Young.

My father is the reason I am so crazy about Mississippi State sports. He brought me home from the hospital when I was born in a No. 1 Mississippi State jersey. Growing up, we woke up early every Saturday and watched ESPN College GameDay together while drinking some fresh coffee.

Every week, I call him before Saturday and we discuss who will win this Saturday inside the SEC. We will discuss betting lines, close games, and winners each week.

After the first five weeks of the football season, the SON (myself) is up 2-1.

SEC Football Week 5:

South Carolina at Tennessee (-12)

Pops: I don’t have a lot of faith in South Carolina. I’m just going with Tennessee because they’re playing better ball right now.

Son: Tennessee looked great last week. I think they carry it into week six. UT wins big.

Georgia (-16) at Auburn

Pops: The deep south’s oldest rivalry won’t be close. Georgia wins big.

Son: Yeah... UGA and Bama are in a league of their own. I’ll take the Bulldogs.

LSU at Kentucky (-1)

Pops: For some reason, I have a feeling that LSU will show up to this game, but I think Kentucky is the better team. I’ll take UK.

Son: I’m taking UK to win this game. Their home crowd is rowdy.

North Texas at Missouri (-20)

Pops: North Texas covers today. UNT is unpredictable, but they’ve shown improvement.

Son: I will also take UNT. I live very close to the North Texas campus and I’ll take the Mean Green to cover.

Vanderbilt at Florida (-35)

Pops: Vanderbilt can’t hang with a decent SEC team. UF wins big.

Son: That’s a HUGE line, but Vanderbilt is not good. I’m taking UF in this one.

Alabama (-16) at Texas A&M

Pops: BAMA.

Son: Why bet against Alabama? Tide rolls today.

Arkansas at Ole Miss (-2)

Pops: I think Ole Miss will win this one because it’s at home. Give me the popcorn.

Son: NOT SO MY FAST FRIEND! I’ll take the Hogs to go to Oxford today and win.
