On Saturday’s early segment, managing editor, Landon Young, does this week’s Southeastern Conference pick ‘em challenge with his father, Gerald Young.
My father is the reason I am so crazy about Mississippi State sports. He brought me home from the hospital when I was born in a No. 1 Mississippi State jersey. Growing up, we woke up early every Saturday and watched ESPN College GameDay together while drinking some fresh coffee.
Every week, I call him before Saturday and we discuss who will this Saturday inside the SEC. We will discuss betting lines, close games, and winners each week.
After the first nine weeks of the football season, we are all tied up 3-3.
SEC Football Week 9:
Missouri @ Georgia (-39.5)
Pops: That’s a lot of points... but UGA may score 3 times on defense (lol). I’ll take Mizzou and those points (probably dumb).
Son: UGA covers all 40 of those points.
Liberty @ Ole Miss (-9.0)
Pops: Ole Miss beats the breaks off of Liberty! Liberty lost to UL Monroe! I repeat... UL MONROE. But I still hope I’m wrong. Freeze’s QB ain’t no joke!
Son: The return. If Matt Corral wasn’t playing in this game, I’d pick the Flames, but he will be. I’ll take OM to cover big time.
Auburn @ Texas A&M (-4.5)
Pops: I want Auburn to win for our sake, but that’s a tough one. I’ll go with A&M to win.
Son: This might be stupid, but I’m picking Auburn to cover the -4.5.
LSU @ Alabama (-28.5)
Pops: Give me LSU and those points. I got a feeling... nah I won’t say it.
Son: Nah pops... Alabama rolls tonight in Tuscaloosa.
Tennessee (-1.0) @ Kentucky
Pops: I’ll take UT.
Son: UK isn’t getting a bit of respect after losing to the Dawgs. I’m taking the Wildcats to win big at home.
Florida (-20.5) @ South Carolina
Pops: Florida covers.
Son: If it was any other SEC team, I’d go against Dan, but I’ll take UF to cover.
Mississippi State @ Arkansas (-4.0)
Pops: MSU. NOT gonna pick against us today!
Son: Road games... If the Dawgs can pull this one out, it changes the outlook on our season. Give me the Dawgs on the road.
