No. 5 Mississippi State hosts Arkansas State in midweek game

First pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m.

STARKVILLE, Miss. — No. 5 Mississippi State baseball (24-7, 8-4 SEC) faces Arkansas State (9-16, 4-5 Sun Belt) on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. CT at Dudy Noble Field. The game will be streaming on SEC Network+.

The Bulldogs have won seven straight games, including Southeastern Conference series sweeps over Kentucky and Auburn. Last weekend at Auburn, the Bulldogs outscored the Tigers 32-17.

Senior Tanner Allen leads MSU with a .333 batting average, 38 hits and 34 RBIs. He is also second on the team with 33 runs scored. Sophomore Kamren James is batting .305 with 36 hits, 32 RBIs and seven home runs, while senior Rowdey Jordan is batting .282 with 34 runs and 19 RBIs.

The MSU pitching staff has struck out 10-plus batters in 11 consecutive games and leads the nation with 406 strikeouts this season.

The Red Wolves are entering the midweek contest after winning one of three games at Louisiana-Lafayette over the weekend.

Junior Liam Hicks leads the team with a .413 batting average, while senior Tyler Duncan is batting .327 with a team-high 32 hits, 29 RBIs, 24 runs and six home runs.

Freshman pitcher Tyler Jeans is slated to make his first career start after making seven relief appearances to start his Arkansas State career. The Arkansas State pitching staff owns an ERA of 8.59 and has struck out 163 batters in 206 13 innings pitched.

Tuesday’s game will mark the 53rd meeting between the Bulldogs and Red Wolves. MSU owns a 42-10 all-time lead in the series.
