On Saturday’s early segment, managing editor, Landon Young, does this week’s Southeastern Conference pick ‘em challenge with his father, Gerald Young.

My father is the reason I am so crazy about Mississippi State sports. He brought me home from the hospital when I was born in a No. 1 Mississippi State jersey. Growing up, we woke up early every Saturday and watched ESPN College GameDay together while drinking some fresh coffee.

Every week, I call him before Saturday and we discuss who will win this Saturday inside the SEC. We will discuss betting lines, close games, and winners each week.

After the first two weeks of the season, the Pops/Son Challenge is tied... last week we tied in the picks. So, the record is the same, 1-1.

Here we go:

Alabama (-45) vs. Southern Miss

Pops: I’m picking Bama, but that is a lot of points.

Son: Betting against Alabama is never a good decision. I’ll take Bama to cover those points.

Arkansas vs. Texas A&M (-5.5)

Pops: PIG SOOIE!

Son: I’m taking the Hogs to win this one.

Auburn (-27) vs. Georgia State

Pops: Auburn covers after a battle last weekend.

Son: Auburn bounces back and wins big this week. I’ll take AU to cover.

Florida (-19) vs. Tennessee

Pops: It’s always hard the week after Bama, but I’ll take Florida to cover this one.

Son: I don’t see UT being a match for UF, but this is a rivalry game. I’ll take Tennesse to cover the -19.

Mississippi State vs. LSU (-2.5)

Pops: Gimmie them Dawgs over LSU.

Son: You already know. Bounce back week. Deuces Coach O!

Boston College vs. Missouri (-1.5)

Pops: BC over Mizzou.

Son: Boston College wins. This game is being played @ BC.

South Carolina vs. Kentucky (-5)

Pops: Kentucky covers here.

Son: UK covers the -5.

Vanderbilt vs. Georgia (-35)

Pops: Can’t believe I’m saying this... but Vandy covers the -35.

Son: Vandy just doesn’t have it. I’ll the Georgia Bulldogs to cover the large -35.
