Pops/Son Pick ‘Em Challenge

On Saturday’s early segment, managing editor, Landon Young, does this week’s Southeastern Conference pick ‘em challenge with his father, Gerald Young.

My father is the reason I am so crazy about Mississippi State sports. He brought me home from the hospital when I was born in a No. 1 Mississippi State jersey. Growing up, we woke up early every Saturday and watched ESPN College GameDay together while drinking some fresh coffee. As you can see in our cover picture, he influenced me enough to wear a maroon suit on my wedding day.

Every week, I call him before Saturday and we discuss who will win this Saturday inside the SEC. We will discuss betting lines, close games, and winners each week.

Let’s PICK ‘EM:

ULM vs. Kentucky (-31)

Pops: UK covers.

Son: I will actually take ULM to cover the -31 today. UK should win, but I’ll take them by four touchdowns.

Rice vs. Arkansas (-19.5)

Pops: Arkansas covers.

Son: I’ll take Arkansas to get a late touchdown and win by 21.

Alabama (-19.5) vs. Miami

Pops: Bama covers.

Son: I’m taking Bama, easy. I think Bama wins by three-plus touchdowns with ease.

Central Michigan vs. Missouri (-14)

Pops:

Son: Hmm... I’ll take Missouri to cover, but not by a lot.

Akron vs. Auburn (-37)

Pops: I’ll take Akron to cover in this one.

Son: Auburn should beat Akron 45-0. Auburn.

Eastern Illinois vs. South Carolina (-31)

Pops: Give me E Illinois and those points!

Son: Considering the fact I’ve never heard of E Illinois, I’ll take SC.

Georgia vs. Clemson (-3)

Pops: I’ll take Clemson, but I hope I’m wrong.

Son: Whew. Best game of the day. I’m guessing Clemson is somewhat rebuilding their offense... So, I’ll take UGA to win this one.

FAU vs. Florida (-23.5)

Pops: UF covers.

Son: I’d imagine UF wins by more than four touchdowns and covers today. I’ll take UF.

Kent State vs. Texas A&M (-29.5)

Pops: A&M covers.

Son: I’ll take the Aggies to win it big fashion and cover today.

ETSU vs. Vanderbilt (-21)

Pops: Vandy covers.

Son: I’ll take Vandy to cover, but it makes me nervous.

LSU (-2.5) vs. UCLA

Pops: I’m taking UCLA to win in a tight one.

Son: This one is tough. Since it’s basically a pick ‘em game, I’ll go with LSU.

LA Tech vs. Mississippi State (-23)

Pops: TAKING THE DAWGS!

Son: I’m taking the Bulldogs to win BIG today by 4+ touchdowns and cover.
