MSU adds commitments from pair of in-state OL's

After starting to pick up momentum recruiting-wise last week by adding WR B.J. Hammond to the mix, State continued its hot streak on the recruiting trail this past weekend as it gained a pair of commitments from offensive linemen from the state of Mississippi.

2013 recruits Deon Mix (3* [24/7], 6'4", 305lbs, South Panola) and Kent Flowers (3* [24/7], 6'4.5", 295lbs, Simmons) both committed to Mississippi State over the weekend, giving the Bulldogs some much needed depth at the offensive lineman position.

Mix held multiple offers from other programs including Alabama, Florida, Ole Miss, Arkansas and others. He told Bulldawg Junction's Michael Wardlaw he chose MSU because of the family environment and feel he got from the school.

Flowers was also receiving interest from Louisiana Tech and Southern Miss, and held an offer from Ole Miss in addition to his offer from Mississippi State.

After Mix and Flowers selected MSU over the weekend, the Top 10 for the State of Mississippi now looks like this:

Rank Recruit Name School Position Committed To:
1 Tony Conner South Panola S
2 Kalio Moore West Bolivar RB
3 Ashton Shumpert Tupelo S
4 Jake Thomas Columbus OT
5 Ryan Buchanan Jackson Prep QB Ole Miss
6 David Mahaffey Brandon OG
7 Gabe Myles Starkville CB
8 Kent Flowers Simmons OT MSU
9 Deon Mix South Panola OT MSU
10 Scott Austin Biloxi WR

MSU feels good about its chances with a good number of the remaining top 10 prospects listed above.

In other recruiting tidbits, Scout's Steve Robertson reports that South Panola Safety Tony Conner is camping with Mississippi State today:

Well, we ASSUME that's Tony Conner. Don't know how many 5* Safeties USP has.
