Dutchtown HS WR Shelby Christy Commits to Mississippi State

And an outstanding recruiting class full of wide receivers just got even better.

2013 Dutchtown High School (Geismar, La) wide receiver Shelby Christy gave his non-binding oral commitment to Dan Mullen and Mississippi State Wednesday, adding yet another tall wide receiver to the MSU class of 2013.

Christy, a 6'3" - 175 lb wide receiver, chose Mississippi State over an impressive list of other offers, including ones from Nebraska, Georgia Tech, Michigan, Vanderbilt, Cincinnati, Houston, and many others.

Christy is rated as a *** (88) prospect by 24/7, a *** by Scout, and a *** (5.6) by Rivals.

Shelby's pledge yesterday gave the Bulldogs 14 commitments early in the 2013 recruiting period, and more importantly gave the Dogs a fifth wide receiver prospect for the '13 class, which will be needed to help replace senior wide receivers such as Chad Bumphis, Arceto Clark, Brandon Heavens, and Chris Smith. Again this class continues to not only add receivers but add tall ones, as Christy becomes the fourth MSU WR commit 6'3" or taller. In comparison, outside of 6'4" Joe Morrow, State will probably play one other guy that is above 6'1" (6'2" Chris Smith), with the rest of the starters (Bumphis, Heavens, etc) being shorter than 6'1".

Whatever they're paying WR Coach Angelo Mirando, it clearly isn't enough

Here are some highlights on Christy from his Junior campaign at Dutchtown:
