Where's the Best Places to Eat in Starkville?
Hello there Bull Dawg fans. Twenty five years ago I attended a football game in Starkville. I always remember how friendly everyone was and how pretty a campus you have at Mississippi State. In fact, I thought it was one of the nicest campuses I have visited throughout the Southland.
On September 8th, we will be returning to watch the SEC opener for MSU and Auburn. I am posting this piece to ask for recommendations for the best places to eat while we are in Starkville.
I'm looking forward to returning to see how much the campus has changed and to watch my Tigers do battle with the Dawgs. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. See you at the game!

Restaurant Tyler
This one’s on the high end, but it’s great. Someone who’s lived in the area more recently than I have will have to chip in more info. Best wishes v. Clemson.

Tyler is a great choice as what a Maroon mentioned
Oby’s is good if you like po’boys.
Little Dooey’s is good but will have a long wait I’m sure.
There’s several hole in the wall places like Stromboli’s and Dave’s Dark Horse Tavern that are good.
The Veranda is also an excellent choice as well.

Ooh, man! I forgot about Oby's
My wife and I have lived in New Orleans for 13 years. We agree that the best poboys we’ve ever eaten are from Oby’s in Starkville.

First off – glad you’re coming back to visit us! Secondly, I would recommend all the restaurants what a and metal building suggested above. I would also add Old Venice (pizza), Mugshots for a good hamburger, UMI’s if you’re a sushi man. I would also suggest Jean’s Cafe – it’s an off the beaten path kind of place, just has good Chinese food and is within walking distance of the stadium in the Cotton District.

Chinese
On Gameday? Sounds like a recipe for disaster. No chicken wings, no Chinese, Krystal or Taco Bell, those are my rules. And only one cup of coffee for an 11:00 game. Nothing like a juicy deuce in a stadium stall to curve your appetite.

Lots of good recommendations here...My thoughts.
Veranda - Get the Veranda Chicken or Seared Ahi Tuna. Both are money.
Restaurant Tyler – Everything is great.
Dave’s Dark Horse Tavern – A great dive bar. Awesome wings and pizza.
City Bagel- Great breakfast options here. Walking distance to the stadium.
Old Venice - Solid Pizzas and pastas.
Lil Dooey - It’s probably the most known and the BBQ is solid.
Petty’s - I actually prefer the BBQ at Petty’s. Pulled pork and bacon sandwich.
Bin 612 - More of a bar, but they have some really good sandwiches and pizzas. Nice patio too and right down the street from the stadium.
Stagger Inn - Really close the stadium. Pretty solid wings and burgers. Good sports bar to stop in before/after the game.
Stop by the MAFES Store on campus right off The Junction and get some MSU Cheese and Ice Cream.

Daves for Pizza and beer. Hands down.

I'm sure it has
And I’m really looking forward to seeing the campus.

When the rest of my crew sees ...
The list, we may have to split up to satisfy every one. I’m heading for Mississippi this afternoon so I should have a chance to try several of these while we are in Starkville.
Thanks again!
