Thursday night was a national showcase for two teams searching for their first SEC wins in 2013, and the game lived up that level of hype. Davis Wade Stadium had a plethora of empty seats. The student section looked to be about half-full. But the Bulldogs still somehow pulled out a win, because nobody beats Kentucky like Dan Mullen. Below are the best tweets from the game. Enjoy.

Does that dog ever leave that water tank?

Pull for Mississippi State football at all times because the better they are the more nat'l broadcast shots of Bully on a treadmill we get

If you can't root for an ugly-ass dog on a water treadmill we are not friends

Rick Stansbury, God bless him, would love this team. So many freshmens.

If the video for "California Love" were a football team, it'd be Mississippi State.

Saban as head coach, but only via Skype and not if Bama's playing at the same time. You know you'd take that, Mississippi State fans.

"Mullen" is a German word that means "chews on laminated play sheet."

A touching tribute tonight as MSU places 20,000 Pom Poms in the stands, honoring the attendance of last year's game in Lexington

Ha. Ref's mic stayed on after the penalty. "Alright. I got ya. Everything straight?" Yes, Mr. Ref. We're good. Thanks for checkin'.

Kentucky probably wouldn't pass sideways so much if the college shot clock wasn't 35 damn seconds
— Jason Kirk (@JasonKirkSBN) October 25, 2013
The Mississippi State offense works so much better when the QB can run, and when they're playing Kentucky.

If Nickoe Whitley doesn't have "unnecessary roughness" tattooed on his body somewhere, I'll be disappointed
— cristilmethod (@cristilmethod) October 25, 2013
Nickoe is lucky his isn't facing a Stinger Splash and Scorpion Deathlock for attacking @Sting 's son on the field

David Pollack now daring to question Field Goal Range Line. This man will take on absolutely anything

We've been spending most our lives / living in a punter's paradise.
— Kyle Veazey (@kyleveazey) October 25, 2013
And that is why you might want your, you know, punter to actually be the one punting from your end zone... Just a thought

Defense gets a third down stop, and somewhere in the locker room Nickoe Whitley gets a late hit on a water cooler just out of habit

Remember when Mississippi State worried whether it would be able to keep Dan Mullen?

Kendrick Market gets a helmet sticker if this lead holds up. Saved the game right there.

State beats Kentucky, 28-22, and improves to 4-3. But man, what a non-inspiring performance for the Bulldogs.
— Kyle Veazey (@kyleveazey) October 25, 2013
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ #msstate
