Marlon Humphrey commits to Alabama

The 5* CB from Birmingham who was always expected to sign with Alabama has committed to do so today.

As expected, 5* Hoover CB Marlon Humphrey has committed to Alabama today.  Humphrey announced the news on Twitter just a few moments ago:

Mississippi State fans had held onto just the smallest amount of hope after Humphrey visited Starkville earlier in the week, but ultimately it seemed that no school offered enough to sway him from Nick Saban's Crimson Tide.

While Marlon was always expected to go to Alabama, the efforts made with him by MSU DC Geoff Collins and CBs coach Deshea Townsend were valiant.  Collins and Townsend were able to at least do enough to convince Humphrey to visit, which is a big deal considering he always favored heavyweights Alabama and Florida State.  Humphrey's consideration of MSU is also a big deal for the 2015 class as he has more than a few teammates who will be highly targeted recruits out of Hoover next year.  Maybe recruiting him helps MSU get an in with those juniors, or maybe it does not.  Either way, it can't do anything but help the Bulldogs chances as they look to assemble a really good class for next February.
