Mississippi State opens as a touchdown underdog to the Alabama Crimson Tide for next Saturday's 2:30 p.m. showdown on CBS.

The #1 Mississippi State Bulldogs have opened the week as a 6.5-point road underdog to the #3/4 Alabama Crimson Tide, according to betting side Oddsshark.com:

The game was also announced earlier today for a 2:30 p.m. CT kickoff on CBS.  This will be Mississippi State's third CBS game of the season, and their second where College Gameday has also made an appearance.

The Bulldogs (9-0) are coming off of a 45-16 homecoming win over UT-Martin, while the Tide finished off LSU 20-13 in overtime last night to move to 8-1 on the season.  Mississippi State has likely had its eye on this game since it was able to take down Auburn at home a month ago, while the Tide had to focus on a resurgent LSU team up until today.

Honestly, this is a bit lower than I expected the line to be at open.  Mississippi State is being hugely bet against this week as pundits across the country seem to be aligning themselves with the Crimson Tide as the SEC favorite.  I couldn't be happier about that either (as we'll talk about later in the week) as we all know what happened the last time MSU walked into Bryant-Denny when they were a sleeper pick to win the game.

For Mississippi State, this week will simply be about focusing and winning another football game in front of them; this one just happens to have more riding on it.  As for the odds on this game, I wouldn't be surprised to see the line continue to rise with more people betting on Alabama.

Should be a fun week.

Hail State
