Mississippi State looks to move to 7-0 with doubleheader action Saturday.

Dave Weaver-USA TODAY Sports

Weather permitting, the  No. 14 Mississippi State (5-0) will take on Alabama A&M and Marshall in a doubleheader in Starkville Saturday.

The Bulldogs enter Saturday's contests following a 6-2 victory over Marshall on Friday. In the contest, the Thundering Herd jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning.  The Bulldogs started chipping away at the lead with a run in the fifth inning when Seth Heck was hit by a pitch and later scored on a John Holland double.

The Bulldogs took the lead in the sixth inning by scoring four runs in the bottom of the frame. Jacob Robson led off the inning with a single and stole second.  Ryan Gridley doubled down the right field line to score Robson, tying the game. A wild pitch moved Gridley to third, and he scored on a Brent Rooker single. Cody Brown, who pinch ran for Rooker, scored on a passed ball, as did Mat Spruill to provide the final runs of the inning.

In the seventh inning, the Bulldogs scored their final run when Robson picked up an infield single, and after stealing second and advancing to third on a throwing error, he scored on a sacrifice fly by Ryan Gridley to tie the game.

Saturday's games will not be televised. Fans can listen to the game on WMXU 106.1 FM, or on HailState.com/Plus.

Austin Sexton is slated to start against Alabama A&M, and Lucas Laster is the announced starter for the matchup against Marshall.  Action is slated for a noon start with game two to follow 35 minutes after the conclusion of game one.
