Alabama A&M took an early lead on the No. 14 Mississippi State Bulldogs (6-0) Saturday at Dudy Noble Field in Starkville, but the lead did not last long for the Bulldogs from Alabama as Mississippi State put a nine-spot up in the bottom of the second frame to pull ahead for good.

Starter Austin Sexton went six innings, striking out a career-high eight, to pick up the victory. Levi Mintz struck out two in two innings of work, and Logan Elliot struck out one in his one inning appearance.

At the plate, Jacob Robson turned in a three-for-three performance, and Brent Rooker went three-for-five with five RBIs in the contest. The five RBIs in a game are the most for a Bulldog this season, and Rooker's home run in the bottom of the sixth was the first of his career.

Seth Heck, who picked up two hits in the contest, extended his streak of games safely reaching base to 36 with a walk in the first inning.

Ryan Gridley picked up a three-run, inside the park home run in the second inning to bust the game wide open.
