Mississippi State basketball added another four-star recruit to the 2016 class Monday with a commitment from Eli Wright, left-handed shooting guard from Owensboro, Kentucky.

Wright gave the pledge to Ben Howland and MSU on his official visit. He chose the Dogs over offers from Florida, Tennessee, UConn, Wake Forest, Oklahoma State, and Indiana among others.

He's the second commitment for the 2016 class, joining four-star point guard and fellow lefty Lamar Peters.

Wright is good friends with MSU freshman forward Aric Holman, who is also from Owensboro, so his commitment doesn't come as much of a surprise.

MSU's backcourt is setting up nicely for the future with Peters, Wright, and four-star guard Quinndary Weatherspoon from last year's class. And who knows -- maybe Malik Newman will hang around another year and be part of that group.

Howland and his staff are lighting the recruiting trail on fire right now. The prospect board is lit up with four-star players, and they've even been in the mix for a couple of five-star guys. What excites me the most is the type of player they are going after -- players that can score the basketball and provide some spark offensively.

Here's a good highlight video showcasing Wright's game:
