Well, we finally know where Malik Newman is transferring to. Bill Self earned Newman's commitment to transfer on up to Kansas.

It's been a weird offseason for Mississippi State regarding Malik Newman. First we thought he was simply going to go into the NBA draft, which is really what we expected all along. But, he must not have been a big fan of the grade he received there, so he decided to withdraw from the draft.
Which, that wasn't too odd in itself. His freshman year wasn't what anyone expected. From scoring 11.3 points per game off of a shooting a field goal percentage of 39.1% to committing the second most turnovers on the team at 1.9 turnovers per game, the entire year fell short of what was expected from Malik.
And so, we all figured he was coming back to Starkville. After all, Horatio Webster himself was telling reporters that that was the case.
Per Horatio Webster who just talked to me, "Malik is withdrawing his name from the draft tomorrow and is coming back to Mississippi State."

"As far as I know, he's going back to Mississippi State," Horatio Webster on Malik Newman. Story coming.

It wasn't too long after that, however, that Malik Newman decided that he would leave Starkville in search of greener pastures. And it looks like he's found those greener pastures in Kansas.
Good luck to Malik. Not much else we can really say at this point.
