After speculation had all but assured MSU's bowl destination earlier this afternoon, we finally have confirmation that State will be traveling to Jacksonville for the second time in three seasons to take part in the TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl. Confirmation has come in from AD Scott Stricklin as well as the Bowl's website, GatorBowl.com.
This confirms the earlier report by the Clarion Ledger's Brandon Marcello.
The game is set to take place at EverBank Field in Jacksonville, home of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Kick off is set for 12 p.m. ET on January 1, 2013. More information will be forthcoming here at For Whom the Cowbell Tolls, and you can always find out more at HailState.com or GatorBowl.com.
MSU's opponent will be the Northwestern Wildcats of the Big Ten conference. The Wildcats officially accepted their invitation earlier this afternoon.
After speculation earlier in the week that State may drop as low as the BBVA Compass Bowl, the news that we are headed back to Jacksonville is definitely welcomed. So pack your bags, State fans, you are headed back to Jacksonville for New Years!
State's attention now turns fully to the Wildcats, who had an outstanding season, finishing at 9-3.
