After JUCO big men Quantel Denson and Travis Daniels signed their Letters of Intent yesterday morning, all eyes turned to the final two MSU prospects for the 2013 basketball recruiting class to sign their papers. Although Mississippi State will probably have to wait several days for the paperwork to come through for recent commit Fallou Ndoye (mother lives in Senegal), State did receive papers from big time point guard prospect I.J. Ready last night. The news was first reported by Paul Jones of 24/7 sports, and later confirmed by coach Rick Ray's Twitter:
IJ Ready is officially a Bulldog! Can't wait for this proven winner to be in our program. We are on the right track with IJ joining r family
— Rick Ray (@RickRay1) November 15, 2012
Ready is a big get for Mississippi State, and could possibly come in and vie for playing time right away in Starkville. I.J. was being recruited by MSU assistant Wes Flanigan when Wes was at Nebraska, and Wes, along with coach Ray, were able to persuade Ready to come to MSU instead. Ready chose MSU over offers from Alabama, Nebraska, Oregon, and Texas Tech, among others. He currently holds an 86 rating and *** by 24/7 sports, and is rated as the #3 overall player from the state of Arkansas.
Ready's signing will give MSU much needed depth in the back court next season, as he will join Andre Applewhite, Jacoby Davis, Trivante Bloodman, Jalen Steele, and others to form MSU's new look back court.
Congrats to I.J. for signing with State, and we look forward to seeing him next fall in maroon and white.
Hail State
