It stings pretty bad to lose like that AGAIN on the plains. I mean, did that really happen? I felt like I was in a dream sequence or something. I was so sure we were going to win during the 4th quarter.
For the first time in his tenure at State, Dan Mullen loses a game when leading heading into the 4th quarter. He is now 29-1.
I thought Dak Prescott looked good (213 yards passing, 133 rushing). We were a different team on 3rd down in the 1st half (5 for 8), but we weren't able to convert in the 2nd half (0 for 7) and things slowed down.
We missed a bunch of tackles which hurt, but didn't take advantage of the turnovers the defense gave (2 INT from Nickoe Whitley who now has 12 for his career). Which, the defense played a great game, again. No complaints there.
I can't really complain too much about the offense I guess. Yeah, we had no running game outside Prescott, but we moved the ball and scored points. This isn't the same as the Oklahoma State postgame.
The bad news is making it to a 4th consecutive bowl game will now be a monumental task.
Personally I feel terrible about the game, but I at least feel like we came to play and if the team stays positive and keeps working we have the ability to knock off someone we "shouldn't" this year. After Week One I wasn't so sure.
