Mississippi State National Signing Day 2014: Darrion Hutcherson signs with MSU

Mississippi State has landed a talented JUCO TE in Darrion Hutcherson.

Thanks, Copiah-Lincoln Athletics

A former Auburn commitment has decided to make Mississippi State his college football home as Darrion Hutcherson has signed with the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

Hutcherson, who is coming out of the JUCO ranks to help the Bulldogs, will bring a unique blend of size and speed to the tight end position for Mississippi State.

Hutcherson, a former defensive end during his freshman season, made the move to the tight end position for his sophomore campaign.  While learning this new position, the coaching staff at Copiah-Lincoln felt he showed consistent and constant improvement at the position.  Though he was rarely utilized in the passing attack, he proved to be a more than capable blocker, and often times, he could serve as the lead block along the line.

Bully HeadFWtCTrecruitings's Quick Thoughts

Hutcherson did something that many players fear doing--switching positions. The fact that he switched and performed well at his new position bodes well for Mississippi State.  He has excellent size and speed for the tight end position, and he has already become a solid blocker.  He could be a real weapon for the Mississippi State in short order.
