In a game that kept many Mississippi State fans on edge early, the Bulldogs managed to pick up a comfortable second half win in Starkville.

1. How much is the quarterback/unit rotation hurting Mississippi State? The Bulldogs' offense looked completely out of sync for most of the first half. I've never been much of a fan of a quarterback rotation, and I hope this has been the last of it for the 2014 season.

2. The field goal unit issue had reached critical mass. Both kickers missed a point-after attempt. Another attempt bounced off an upright and over the crossbar. In a game against a tougher foe, that might have cost the Bulldogs dearly. At this point, don't you have to consider an open tryout on campus? NFL teams even do it at times.

3. At the end of the day, this may have been a good reality check for Mississippi State. An offseason of hype and hopes can cloud a team's thoughts. Let's hope this tough win sharpens the Bulldogs' focus. Also, let's not completely lose our minds about a tight first half. It happens in a lot of early games to a good number of good teams. At the end of the day, the Bulldogs took a punch in the mouth and bounced back.

4. How awesome has Preston Smith been this year? That interception and touchdown was just incredible.

5. One thing that has to make anyone pulling for Mississippi State nervous was the Bulldogs' susceptibility to the deep ball today. There can be little doubt that teams will not look to test that later this year.
