The Diamond Dawgs host the Colonels of Eastern Kentucky tonight at Dudy Noble Field. The Maroon and White are 4-0 all-time against EKU and are playing the Colonels for the first time since 1989. EKU out of the Ohio Valley Conference (my old stomping grounds) are 7-8 and 0-3 OVC. They lost three games over the weekend to preseason Ohio Valley Conference favorite Southeast Missouri. Senior RH pitcher Chris Cervantes will start on the mound for the Colonels against Mississippi State. It will be his first start of the season. Cervantes has allowed four hits and four walks in three and one-third innings. He did not allow a run in his last appearance. The best HR threat is Kyle Nowlin finished second in the country with 19 home runs last season. He's picked up where he left off this year. Nowlin is third in the nation with seven dingers. He now has 35 career home runs and is 17 away from tying the school record of 52. Konnor Pilkington get the start on the mound tonight, so expect to see alot of our bullpen tonight. The batting line-up for tonight is Robson, Cody Brown, Rooker, Lowe, Collins, Reid H, Gridley, Marrero, and Alexander. So the order we saw over the weekend is still being used with just a minor player adjustment. Jack Kruger is not in the line-up tonight...I would expect he might get inserted late in the game in a similar manner to how Cody Brown has been used. And we look to be wearing Mossy Oak tops for tonights game...or at least the is what showing on the Baseball twitter account. I actually kinda like the new uniform tops...but I am partial to camo.
