The expected news today regarding Malik Newman is sweet and sour for MSU fans. Malik didn't have the season that he and we all hoped for due to multiple injuries. The day he fell hard and jammed his back made me hurt just watching on TV. I saw the team play once in person this year and Malik looked like an elite athlete more so than anyone else on the floor. It is sad that his season didn't go as planned but that seems to be no one's fault other bad timing for injuries. When he was on his game, it was definitely fun to watch.
If an NBA team offers Malik the big bucks, he's got to go and all Dawgs wish him the best. I hope he'd go with fond ties to MSU and feel like it was his brief but loving home. AND, if no one "shows him the proper money" I hope he comes back and helps the new team win the SEC next year. Heck, with his help, when the team hit on all cylinders this year, they nearly beat TAMU and could play with anyone.
And one last tidbit...the opinion piece on this topic in the Clarion-Ledger by Hugh Kellenberger is once again proof that all MSU fans should call for his dismissal or that his obvious bias be restricted to their editorial page. I miss the days when journalism meant presenting the news, unbiased. He's a disgrace to professional journalism.
