ICYMI: News and Announcements from the Week

With so much happening during the SEC Media Days, a few things may have slipped in below radar. So here is a bit of a refresher about basketball scheduling, award watch lists, and ESPN's College GameDay in Mobile (?!?!).

While SEC Media Days provides us a bit of relief from the dark days of no college football, it also means that news, notes, and quotes come flying by at breakneck speeds.  Here are a few things that may have slipped under the radar this week:

  • Mississippi State and Tulane have agreed to a pair of basketball games. This is huge news for Mississippi State fans on the coast as the teams will play on December 6 in New Orleans.  With the off-site games looking limited to Tupelo and Jackson for the foreseeable future, Bulldog fans who live south of Hattiesburg will have a chance to catch the Maroon and White on the hardwood.  In addition to the game with Tulane, Mississippi State will also play Florida State and Oregon State this year.
  • More Watch Lists have come out and more Bulldogs made the cut.  Jameon Lewis found his name on the Biletnikoff Award watch list for the best wide receiver in college football.  Chris Jones made his first watch list of his career when he and fellow Bulldog Benardrick McKinney were named to the Lombardi Award Watch List.
  • It appears there is a push to get ESPN's College GameDay to come to South Alabama for the Jaguars' matchup against Mississippi State.
What else is going on out there?
