Mississippi State’s official move in started today. That means just about everyone in Starkville is surely stressed out of their minds.
Walmart is bound to be packed, full of confused students and frantic parents. Campus is probably crawling with people soaked to their socks with sweat, carrying boxes around and trying not to get lost.
But today is a good day for everybody there. Sure, it’s nerve-wracking. Sure, it’s physically exhausting. But, today is meaningful for everyone involved.
Students, you’ve FINALLY arrived at Mississippi State University. Maybe this is a day that you’ve been dreaming about since you were 10 years old at your first MSU football or baseball game. Or maybe Mississippi State is a school that you found on google and figured that you’d like to go to school 10 hours away from home at a place that has a pretty nice campus.
Regardless of how you got to this point, you’re here now and you’re set to have a fantastic four (or five like some of us) ahead of you.
Parents, your kid is FINALLY out of your house. You watched them grow up for 18 years after you brought them into the world (you may have jokingly threatened to take them out of this world too). And now they think that they’re finally ready to be a “real” adult, right?
Well, now you’ve got four (or maybe five) years ahead of you that they’ll surely be out of your house (for most of the time) and you have a chance to pickup scuba diving or something.
Today is probably stressful, and maybe even hard to deal with, but it’s also a good day for all of you. It’s a huge step forward for Mississippi State’s new freshmen and transfer students as they embark upon their journey into the world. And it’s a day that everyone around them that guided them to this point can celebrate all that has been accomplished.
So, welcome to all of our new freshmen and their families. Congratulations on getting to Starkville. You’ve got a lot ahead of you while you’re at Mississippi State. And it starts today.
