Mississippi State University has now officially implemented a smoke-free policy that spans both the Starkville and the Meridian campus. That’s right. Cigarettes, cigars, pipes, e-cigarettes, and hookah are all prohibited from Mississippi State.

“But Ethan, this is a sports blog, what does me not being able to use my e-cig have to do with anything?”
I’m glad you asked. One, this is the offseason. Two, the ban includes all Mississippi State sports facilities AND any tailgating that you’re going to be doing in the Junction. It covers ALL of campus around the clock.

That’s right. There’s going to be signs reminding you and everything.
The smoke-free campaign includes signage throughout campus, providing reminders of the policy. Additionally, business cards with information about the policy will be distributed. Students, employees and visitors are expected to abide by the policy and encouraged to respectfully remind violators of the policy.
So, next time you’re in Starkville for a football game, or any other sporting event, just remember that you’re not allowed to smoke on university property.
