Question About Fletcher Cox
Hello Mississippi State football gurus. I am a blogger for the Pittsburgh Steelers site and it looks like Fletcher Cox might fall to pick #24 in our mock NFL draft. We run a 3-4 base defense in Pittsburgh. My question is, can Fletcher Cox play nose tackle in the NFL? We need a nose tackle, but not a defensive end. I don't know what base he has played in college, but regardless, does he have the physique and skills to be an NFL nose? Thanks.

to muknowledge
to my knowledge i never remember him playin nose in college, josh bod played nose and fletvj was a tackle. he did slide out to end a few times. he used to est up doyuble taeams and free the nose/boyd and still managed to be sec dl of week i think 4 times. the kid is a beast. nice size and quickness. i think probablt better suited for the tackle spot because of his speed. i wouldn’t hesirate putting him at nose though. i’m no football guru or nothin either,so take that for what it’s worth…..

^^^^^ what?
i don’yt know where his speed would better fit the tackle position; wrong choice of words i guess, but the fact that ol’s have to respect his quickness off the ball with doubleteams leaves holes for lb’s and safety’s to attack the backfield easier. i think he commanded double teams most of the time which aided in josh boyd(nose tackle) in getting in the backfield, but he was also had quick feet and could shed the double teams
