A lot of people including me are a little dissapointed that MSU did not host. But let's remember that this is MSUs first NCAA Tournament in 5 years so that in the end is probably the difference. Another reason is that while Duke gets National TV almost every Sunday the best MSU got is the SEC Network. But to be honest I'm really glad we are going to Duke. This is the most historical basketball stadium in men's that anyone who watches college basketball knows about the Cameron Crazies so to see MSU coming to this arena is pretty cool to me. Im not sure if the Cameron Crazies will be there for women's especially since Duke is in the Men's tournament in Charlotte this weekend as well but either way itd be better for us if they didn't show up!
Our first opponent is Tulane which when I first saw that's who we were playing I thought it would be an easy walk in the park but I was dead wrong. Tulane went to LSU earlier this year and knocked them off(while LSU isn't the best they did give us one of our 6 losses which is also why we did not host). They also have defeated NC State on the road as far as power 5 teams go. They played Connecticut twice and got steamrolled twice. And they seem to have a bit of history with us. Vic seems confident about this game and I feel pretty confident too. We play Friday on ESPN2 at 12:30.
Duke and Alabany will play at 10:00 on ESPN2 on Friday so if you have never seen Duke you can watch them before MSU comes on. I no nothing about Alabany and I assume Duke will win so I will not talk about Alabany. I am quite famillar with Duke however. Duke currently has 10 losses two of which I feel are bad in at Boston College and at NC State. They do have more quality wins since they defeated FSU. They lost at home to South Carolina by 1 and have won every home game since. Their first game they went to Alabama and won 90-40(MSU won 57-55 at Alabama a few weeks ago). While Duke looks scary on paper I really don't think they are. They didn't beat Notre Same and didn't get a quality out of conference win because that lost all of their top 25 ones. Depending on how many people show up for Duke it could be a very tough road game. However I like MSUs chances in this game and I think they will make the Sweet Sixteen next weekend in Spokane Washington(really??) Against either 30-2 Maryland or undefeated Princeton.
