This humble post is in regard to the Manny discussion from yesterday and this morning.
The reading around here just gets better and better. JRS, you have been tireless this year, and your editorial direction has attracted dozens of new, literate commenters who represent thousands of other read-only folks. The hits are way,way up, I imagine. Thank you.
Thor and MRW: I knew that when you two went head-to-head that it would be good. You exceeded expectations. Thank you.
So many of you made salient, informative comments about the "Manny Situation" - quotes on purpose- that I can't name you all. You did so with humor and hope, but without resorting to nonsense. Thank you.
Collectively, you are raising the intellectual, and literary quotient of our humble little site (yes, I consider myself an owner). For everyone one of us who chimes in with a comment, no matter how occasional, there are hundreds of read-only lurkers, many of whom represent our detractors. We commenters support what we firmly believe to be the greatest public university in the United States of America. Athletics, and especially, football, are the front porch of that great university. So, how we present ourselves to them matters. Thinking before we speak matters. Aiding the uninformed matters. And, doing so in complete, clear, consistent, and concise sentences, well-organized into paragraphs, matters.
Not very long ago, we struggled too get 100 comments on an in-game thread v. an SEC opponent - and over half of those were AZ and tuk. No more. We are an informed, diverse, and erudite community, and I'm really happy to be a part of it. Thank you.
If Dan were to read anything we wrote, it should be yesterday's thread. Happy New Year.
