Mississippi State Announces 2016 Soccer Schedule

Here is a breakdown of the 2016 Mississippi State Schedule.

Mississippi State Athletics

Mississippi State has officially released their 2016 Soccer Schedule.

The Bulldogs are looking to cap off another year of great attendance as Mississippi State set a school record last season for average attendance. MSU opens exhibition play August 10th at home against Memphis. The first regular season game will be August 19th at the College of Charleston. They will also face a 2015 NCAA Tournament opponent in Virginia Tech the same weekend. Mississippi State begins conference play at home against Arkansas on September 9th. The Bulldogs will host Senior Day on September the 11th against ULL.

Other notable games include a trip to Oxford Mississippi on September 22nd. Something of note is the Bulldogs and the Rebels did not face each other as conference opponents in the 2015 Season.  The Bulldogs also host 2015 NCAA Tournament Teams LSU, South Carolina and Texas A&M who made the Elite Eight of the NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament. And the Bulldogs will travel to NCAA Tournament Teams South Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, and 2015 SEC Regular and Tournament Champion Florida.

The Bulldogs come back with a more experienced roster and have a good possibility to make some noise in the SEC this year. With Mississippi State's improved SOS, this team has a chance to make the NCAA Tournament. However, it would be hard to find anyone in the country who has a tougher close to the season than MSU: at Florida and vs Texas A&M.

Mississippi State improved tremendously under 4th year head coach Aaron Gordon by being able to win the most conference games by a Bulldog club since 2011.
