Welcome to the first edition of the Armchair Quarterback. I'm going to take this time each week to tell you what stood out to me in the SEC each week, whether it is good or bad.
I'll also give you my Power Rankings for the SEC. Feel free to agree or disagree, but these rankings will be my opinion on how the SEC should be stacked up.
We obviously haven't had any football yet, so I can't tell you what like and what I don't like. So that means we are going to jump straight to the Power Rankings.
Preseason SEC Power Rankings
1. Alabama
Until someone knocks Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide out of the SEC Championship or College Football Playoff, then every poll out there should start the year with Bama at the top.
2. LSU
I think the Tigers are going to be really good this year. I don't know if they are going to be good enough to take out the Tide, but they will be really good and possibly the best team in the SEC. But if they fall short of Bama, then Les Miles might need to brush up his resume.
3. Tennessee
If the Vols don't win the East, they should be ashamed of themselves. The East is terrible, and they are pretty good. Quite a bit better than Georgia and Florida, the only two teams that can really even come close to challenging Tennessee.
4. Ole Miss
I'm starting Ole Miss high, but I don't know where they should go. They're offensive line could be a disaster, and if it is, they will have a really hard time. Anything between 6 wins and 11 wins for the Rebels would not surprise me.
5. Georgia
The other Bulldogs probably don't deserve to be this high, but we'll see. I think they can be good, hence the higher ranking, but I don't have a ton of confidence in them to do so.
6. Mississippi State
I'm putting our Bulldogs sixth. I don't feel completely comfortable with that. There are a ton of question marks on the team, but they also have a lot of games who know the ropes of Dan Mullen's system to put on the field. I think the Bulldogs will be fine.
7. Texas A&M
Expect the Aggies to be around 2 or 3 in this poll during October, and somewhere closer to this spot by the time the year is over.
8. Florida
If Florida can put points on the board this season, they might be pretty good. If they can't, it could be a long season in Gainesville.
9. Arkansas
It was kinda fun to watch the Hogs play in 2015. With them losing basically their entire offense, I expect them to go back to boring Bielema ball.
10. Auburn
I want to believe the entire SEC West will go bowling for a third straight year. Auburn makes me hesitant to believe it is going to happen.
11. Vanderbilt
I'm putting Vandy at the top of the last four because I have more faith in their defense than I do any other part of the last four teams. They might pull an upset or two if they can catch a team napping.
12. Missouri
I also like the Tigers defense. I just don't like it as much as I like Vanderbilt's defense.
13. Kentucky
I don't know that there is anything to like about Kentucky.
14. South Carolina
I don't know that there is anything to like about South Carolina, AND they made a terrible coaching hire this offseason.
There's my power rankings. Feel free to tell why you think I am completely wrong in the comments.
