It's the End of the World as We Know It and other assorted thoughts.

I just noticed that all the bands I listened to in the 70's and 80's have all gotten old or dead which is a form of old if you think about it. REM was a solid band in the day. Many years ago Bubba Earl and I went to Auburn for a football game and the War Eagle band had learned a REM song and proceeded to play the thing about 100 times. Bubba Earl said he was going to lose HIS religion if they had played one more time. I believe that was the day that Matt "the slowest quarterback in history" Wyatt willed our Bulldawgs to victory on the Plains. Bubba and I had our beer goggles on by the end of the game. Even in that state of mind, Matty looked like he was running in slow motion. I thought someone may have slipped a little peyote in the our juice. But no, everything else was in normal speed except for the afore mentioned hero.

The SKarlina series could've been awesome but I guess 2/3 ain't bad like Meatloaf sang about. I never understood why he named himself Meatloaf. He could've had a cool band name like me and Bubba Earl while in college. Freshman year we were "Righteous Rutabager and the Cool Coleslaw band", sophomore year it was " Fantastic Fruit Salad", junior year was " The Collard Green Blues Band" and senior year " Bad Mushrooms". We actually recorded a self titled album our senior year. It can still be found in your finer gas stations and convenience stores across the South.

Everyone is in the stretch drive leading to the SEC baseball tourney. I believe the top 4 are Arky, Vandy, MSU and Tenn. I think it should be an interesting time to see who has the pitching to win not only the tourney but the rest of the post season. MSU is at home this weekend against a fine Missouri team. They can hit, throw and catch as well as any high school team in Boise Idaho. How they got into the SEC is still beyond me.

Until next time
